Chantix Side Effects
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the approval of Chantix (Varenicline Tartrate) tablets, to help smokers to stop smoking. The active ingredient in Chantix, Varenicline Tartrate, is a new molecular entity that received a priority FDA review because of its potential benefit to public health. However, there are certain side effects associated with the use of Chantix Drug. They are namely:
- Nausea (may last for several months)
- Stomach pain, indigestion, vomiting, constipation, gas
- Weakness or tired feeling
- Increase in hunger
- Unpleasant taste in the mouth
- Headache
- Sleeping problems (insomnia) or unusual dreams
Apart from the side effects listed above, on using Chantix some other side effects many also occur. Talk to your doctor should any side effects arise that seems unusual or is especially bothersome to an individual.
Because of the use of Chantix, the following disorders were traced.
Blood and Lymphatic System Disorders:
Infrequent: Anemia and lymphadenopathy.
Rare: Leukocytosis, thrombocytopenia, and splenomegaly
Cardiac Disorders:
Infrequent: Angina pectoris, arrhythmia, bradycardia, ventricular extrasystoles, myocardial infarction, palpitations, and tachycardia.
Rare: Atrial fibrillation, cardiac flutter, coronary artery disease, Cor pulmonale, and acute coronary syndrome.
Ear And Labyrinth Disorders:
Infrequent: Tinnitus and vertigo.
Rare: Deafness and Ménière’s disease.
Eye Disorders:
Infrequent: Conjunctivitis, dry eye, eye irritation, vision blurred, visual disturbance, eye pain.
Rare: Acquired night blindness, blindness transient, cataract subcapsular, ocular vascular disorder, photophobia, and vitreous floaters.
Gastrointestinal Disorders:
Frequent: Diarrhea and gingivitis.
Infrequent: Dysphagia, enterocolitis, eructation, gastritis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mouth ulceration, esophagitis.
Rare: Gastric ulcer, intestinal obstruction, and pancreatitis acute.
