Varenicline Tartrate or Chantix acts as nicotine on the human brain cells enabling it to minimize the desire of smoking cigarettes and taking similar tobacco products. The US FDA received priority review for Varenicline during February 2006 but it has been approved for sale in the United State only on 11th May 2006 and on 1st August 2006, the availability of Chantix Drug was declared by its producer Pfizer, however it is not yet been cleared for sale in other countries.

Varenicline Tartrate or Chantix has been recommended by Pfizer for terminating the smoking habits. It has been considered as the alternate for bupropion or Zyban and nicotine replacement therapy like nicotine patches.
The formula of chantix Varenicline contains 0.5mg and 1.0mg in tablets forms. The recommended standard dosage is 1mg twice a day for twelve weeks as approved by the US FDA and by that time if smoking pauses then it should be continued for another twelve weeks as suggested by the company and the US FDA.
